New harddrive and other stuff no one cares about

I finally decided to pickup a larger hard drive. I’ve slowly managed to fill up two 80 GB hard drives and seeing as I really needed a reformat I thought why not just start fresh with a new hard drive. I ran to my favorite online pc parts site TigerDirect.com and found a 500 GB hd on sale for 89 dollars. The install and reformat went pretty easily. I’m still installing some of my old stuff but for the most part everything I need I have.

The past few days I have done a ton of work on a file manage upload system for my main website. I am pretty proud of how it came out but I really have no one to show it to that would care and wouldn’t steal it. So I guess it will be my own little private triumph lol. All that work and the fact the server has been acting funky for a couple of days has me behind in other projects I need to do. Hopefully i’ll get back on schedule by tomorrow.

I used to get online for more of a social network. Now it seems when i’m on i’m always working on something. I do have a couple ppl that are close to me online but for the most part I don’t talk to ppl unless they talk to me and when they do it’s usually just to ask me something or want me to do something. Mostly I don’t mind. I like to keep busy. Makes me miss the olden days of MSN chat sometimes.

Well anyways i’ve got several sites to upgrade tonite so i’ll cut this short. Hi to anyone who bothers reading this blog. TTYL

Leave you with meh new theme song

Another one bytes the dust

Sorry for the bad pun.

Well yet another causality to add to the ever growing list of one of my sites. They come and they go I guess. It’s never easy to see someone you work with move on but it’s just the life of a website. It’s hard for people to understand what it takes to run a website when it’s mostly community based. It’s not for everyone. I try to find people I think can handle the stress involved. A lot of people think oh great I going to be a part of this site but they don’t realize that you have to make certain sacrifices as well. I’m not saying my way is the best way to run a site but it is my way cause it is my site.

There are many times when I take something someone says to me or about me personally and it does get to me. But the bigger picture is the site itself. If I started banning everyone that didn’t agree with everything I did then I would be pretty lonely on my site all by myself. It’s not easy being the person that has the control. You get most of the hate and little of the praise. I have dealt with most every type of person online. I’ve had people bad mouth me, threaten me, try to make me quit, ddos my site, and every other hateful thing you can think of. Yet i’m still here. And further more many of those same people that did and said those hurtful things are still on my site.

It’s not easy to take that sort of abuse and continue on with your role on a site. It is easier to just quit and move on. I did it on XT for those that remember. It’s a hard role to take and even harder to keep taking. There are many people out there that don’t like me and i’m ok with that. Most of them don’t really know me. I take what I do on techgear seriously. I only give people power over things on my sites when I truly trust them and think they deserve it.

I do forgive too easily sometimes. I choose not to live my online life full of hate for others I do not really know. I’ve tried my best to make techgear a place for everyone. Not just people I like. I hate losing people this way but it’s happened before and I will not get upset about it. I will however be disappointed because one of the things I enjoy most about techgear is working on it with friends. I miss the old days when I had people to chat with about ideas and code for the site. It has become more of a one man show now I guess. Ozzy is into his thing which I think is fantastic and with X gone now it’s back to just me. But things will continue to move forward. I will continue to do what I think is best for the site and it’s community. All I can say is good luck X you will be missed and thank you for all the work you put in on techgear. It was appreciated by more than you realize.

Review: I Am Legend

I remember when I first saw the previews for this movie. I thought wow this is right up my alley. I am a big fan of action movies and have always liked the movies Will Smith played in. I did not get a chance to see it at the theater so which much anticipation I awaited it’s dvd release. After I finally got a copy of it at the rental store ( after 3 weeks of trying ) I couldn’t wait to get home and watch it. I fixed up a taco salad and prepared to be awe struck by the movie. It started out with a good base for the plot but then it began to introduce things two quickly. It was like they were trying to focus on two many sub plots and ended up not really explaining any of them. It all seemed over so fast. I was hugely disappointed in this film.
